White Noise Generator

Tinnitus, often referred to as the ringing ears, is the perception of noise in the ear which originates from the inside rather than the outside environment. The noise may be of different nature like ringing, buzzing, hissing, crackling, roaring, whistling, humming etc. The tinnitus may be unilateral or bilateral.

Various researches have been done to find out the cure for the tinnitus, but all in vain. The approach which has been found to effectively reduce tinnitus is the masking technique, which masks the inside noises by producing soothing noise outside the ear. This masking of noise diverts the mind of the sufferer from the annoying noises and calms down the nerves. 

White noise machine is popularly used to produce the masking effect for tinnitus. The basic machine consisted of the fan with the speed controlling switch. The fan used to blow the air out of the small slots made in the cover of the machine. The flow of air through these slots produced different sounds giving the masking effect.  

The modern and high tech white noise generator is electronic equipment and generates the sound through the electronic playback of the digital audio recording which repeats at the end of the recording or by generating the sound in the real-time within audio test equipment. The volume of the sound from these machines should be kept at the comfortable levels just enough to mask the internal noise.

The white noise machine produces pleasant, constant sounds like running water, moving air and the rain.
